EzWIC Redesign
EzWIC Redesign was inspired by none other than my own personal enrollment of the program. Being a user, you become very reliant and dependent of the applications that do one of the most important thing to us as mothers. Feed our babies. With so many hardships threatening families all over the world, it's no wonder so many hurdles hit a little too close to home (if not home) these past couple years.

Challenge 🚨
The challenge was that there were so many economical disasters happening all at once. Anything and everything was (is?) getting hit with financial distress and it was starting to impact an unexpected, at least to myself, market.
January 2022: I start to notice the lack of formula options at WIC accepted stores such as Walmart, Fry's, Safeway, etc. I soon realize they're also very short in stock at non-accepted retailers such as Target, CVS, Walgreens, etc
February 2022: The Similac voluntary recall. My son was actually on one of these formulas due to his milk protein allergy. Luckily, he's been on the ready to feed form since he was about two and a half months old.
March 2022: Russia's war with Ukraine causes fuel prices in the United States to soar. This makes it harder for families who have WIC, now needing to pay out of pocket at non-WIC retailers, to find formula in a reasonable radius within their homes.
Key Objective 🔑
The key objective of this redesign project is to simplify and add new features to the EzWIC app, making it easier for moms and parents to access the nutrition their children need. I cannot tell you how many times, amidst a shortage and voluntary recall, that I have had to drive to multiple stores in different cities to find my son's milk. Many times, when calling these stores to find out if they had what I needed in stock, the employees would usually hang upon not be able to give a definitive answer on the specific formula. This really hadn't been an issue for me up until then beginning of this year - 2022.

Solution 💡
My goal is to revamp the aesthetic of the app while also creating a new feature that I named: Formula Finder. The Formula Finder feature of the redesigned application locates in-stock formula for WIC accepted retailers within a preset mileage of your location. Formula Finder makes it easier for WIC-using parents, who may also be struggling with transportation issues, to find formula at a faster, more convenient rate so parents can get back to doing what they do best - parenting!

formula finder
New Feature
Formula Finder was designed and created for use in the midst of this national formula shortage. The feature conveniently lets you search for your preferred formula and informs you if the item is in stock or not. This would help parents of WIC approved retailers know whether or not a location has the formula their baby needs or not before even making the trip.
